New Customs Rule Starting Oct. 22 May Complicate Prescription Orders from Canada
A new U.S. customs policy taking effect October 22 could make it significantly more difficult for Americans to receive prescription medications by mail from Canada and other international pharmacies. The change will require additional customs filings for certain mailed medications, creating a more complicated process for patients who rely on international pharmacies for access to critical prescriptions.
SHARx Co-Founder and Chief Growth Officer Paul Pruitt explains that while the policy is not specifically aimed at medications, the added formality could create new challenges for patients and pharmacies. As prescription access pathways continue to evolve, SHARx remains focused on preparing alternative solutions that help protect access to medications and keep members’ therapies moving forward.
